April Expense Totals

Each month I write a report of sorts, to show a bit of the bigger picture.  For a more detailed list of each spend, go to the stats page or click here.

Contrary to last month, I was surprised that April ended up totaling as cheaply as it did.  We spent most of April in India which is very cheap, but India is enormous and there’s so much we wanted to see, so I was suspecting the land transit and air transit costs to really rack up.  Especially since the Indian Railway system works best if you book in advance and therefore I thought we’d be resorting to more expensive options more frequently.

Still, what made the difference this month is exactly the same as what made the difference last month (only in the opposite direction this time!) Last month I felt like a ton of our budget went towards chasing that IHG Big Win promotion with expensive paid stays.  This month was a point-burning month and it really helped us save money AND cope in a chaotic setting.

But, you give and take.  Because this month was much more pleasing to our budget, it’s going to be much less pleasing to our hotel-point wallet.  In fact, we are about to spend way more than we like to on a Saturday InterContinental stay in hopes that our final IHG Big Win requirement will rake in a significant amount of points just in time for the next PointBreaks list.

So here are the totals for the month of April spanning three countries; IndonesiaSingapore, and mostly India.

April Total$1,785
Tourist Attraction Total$32.58
Food & Beverage Total$407.26
Land Transit Total$272.91
